Why Homeowners Choose Us

A solar system sits on your home for decades, so the parts you never see matter as much as the panels. Here is how we work.

Designed to the code first
We lay out each array around the electrical and fire code before we talk about panel count. That means rapid shutdown equipment, labeled disconnects, proper grounding and the roof access pathways firefighters need. The design the inspector sees is the one we build.
We pull the permit
We prepare the plan set, deliver it to the city for review and schedule the inspection. You will know which step the job is on and what comes next, without chasing anyone for updates.
Careful work on your roof
We flash and seal every roof penetration, run conduit in tidy lines and keep wiring off the shingles. Attachments are placed into the rafters, not just the decking, so the mounts hold through wind and hail.
Straight answers on repair or replace
When a system is underperforming, we test it, photograph what we find and tell you whether a part, a connection or simply dirty glass is the cause. Sometimes the honest answer is a cleaning, and we will say so.
A clean finish
We protect landscaping and walkways during the job, pick up every scrap of wire and packaging, and leave equipment labeled so the next person who opens a panel knows what they are looking at.

How a Solar Project Runs

Most of the calendar on a solar job is paperwork and inspections. The install itself is usually the shortest part.

  1. 1

    Phone conversation

You tell us about your home, your bills and what you hope solar will do. We explain the options and arrange a site visit.

  2. 2

    Site visit and design

We measure the roof, check the rafters and inspect your electrical panel. Then we draw a system that fits the code and your goals, and go over a written estimate with you by phone.

  3. 3

    Permits and approvals

We take the plan set to the city for review, handle the utility interconnection application and prepare any HOA paperwork. You sign; we handle the back and forth.

  4. 4

    Installation day

The crew mounts racking, sets panels, runs conduit and wires the inverter and disconnects. Most homes are done in one to three days, and we clean up each evening.

  5. 5

    Inspection and turn-on

We meet the city inspector, then wait for the utility's approval to operate. Once it arrives, we switch the system on and show you how to read your monitoring.

What Shapes the Cost of Solar

No two homes price out the same, and a fair quote starts with your roof, your electrical panel and your power use. These are the factors that move the number most. We explain each one on the call and again in writing.

We build your estimate after looking at your roof, panel and bills, and we walk you through each line item by phone before anything is scheduled.

System size
The number of panels follows your annual electricity use and how much of it you want to offset. A year of utility bills gives us the clearest picture.
Roof layout and access
Simple south and west facing planes go quickly. Multiple small roof faces, steep pitches, tile or a two-story home add labor and racking.
Electrical panel condition
Older or full main panels sometimes need an upgrade or a supply-side connection to meet code. We check this early so it never shows up as a late surprise.
Equipment choices
Microinverters, string inverters with optimizers and different panel lines each carry different costs and monitoring options. We explain the trade-offs plainly.
Battery storage
Adding a battery changes the wiring, the inspection scope and sometimes the panel work. It can be installed with the array or added later.
Permits and utility steps
City fees, HOA review and interconnection paperwork are part of every job, and we list them openly rather than folding them into a vague total.

Questions Homeowners Ask

How much does a solar system cost?
It depends on system size, your roof, your electrical panel and the equipment you choose. We do not quote a number until we have seen your bills and your home. After the site visit you get a written estimate with each item listed, and we go through it with you by phone.
Do you handle the permits and inspections?
Yes. We prepare the plan set, apply for the city permit, schedule and attend the inspection, and handle the utility interconnection paperwork. If an inspector asks for a change, we make it. You will not need to visit city hall.
How long does it take from signing to turning the system on?
Installation itself usually takes one to three days. The full timeline depends mostly on city plan review and utility approval, which vary by city and season. We tell you where things stand at each step.
Will my HOA allow solar panels?
Texas law generally limits an HOA's ability to ban solar outright, though associations can have placement guidelines. We prepare the drawings and equipment details most associations ask for and help you get them to the board for review.
What if my roof is old?
We check its condition during the site visit. Panels stay up for decades, so if the shingles are near the end of their life, we tell you before installing. That way any work on the roof itself can be done first, and we install afterward on a sound surface.
How does hail affect solar panels?
Quality panels use tempered glass rated for hail impact, and most come through typical storms fine. After a severe storm, we can inspect your array and document any damage with photos for your insurance claim. The adjuster decides what is covered; we explain what we found.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We provide a 10-year workmanship warranty on solar. The panels, inverters and batteries also carry their own manufacturer warranties, which we explain when we review your equipment.
Will a battery keep my power on during an outage?
A properly configured battery can power selected circuits when the grid goes down. Code requires the system to isolate from the grid during an outage, and we set that up correctly. Our Battery Storage page covers sizing and what you can expect it to run.

About Solar Installation Richardson

We are a local solar company focused on residential systems. Our work is mostly the careful kind people never notice: correct conductor sizing, weatherproof penetrations, clear labels and a plan set that matches what is actually on the roof.

North Texas summers are long and bright, and spring storms bring hail and high wind. We choose racking, attachments and wire management with that in mind, so your system keeps producing and stays put. Learn more about how we work on our About page.
